Breaking News: Lakers Fire Mike Brown

After a 1-4 start with so many expectations, the Los Angeles Lakers fire Head Coach Mike Brown. There were already rumbling about whether Brown would be able to keep his job had the Lakers struggled during their upcoming 6 game home stand but apparently Jim Buss couldn't wait that long. So far while trying to get out of his Fathers shadow the two decisions that he pretty much was the main decision maker behind didn't end up to well the first being drafting Andrew Bynum. While the Lakers did win two championships with Bynum he never quite reached his full potential while in LA. Some may feel like the Lakers pressed the panic button too quick but here are some candidates I feel can succeed and lead the Lakers.

Brian Shaw

Shaw was a great influence and a great locker room guy as a player and as an assistant coach under Phil Jackson. Many people feel that he not coach Brown should have gotten the job and this may be Jim Buss' chance to right a wrong.

Jerry Sloan

One of the most respected individuals in the history of the NBA whether as a tough nose guard on the 70's Chicago Bulls squad or as the face of the Utah Jazz.  Sloan can bring a level of toughness that I feel the Lakers can benefit from and he can also help them solve their defensive woes.

Mike D'Antoni

Although he probably won't help the Lakers much on the defensive end but offensively he could possibly bring back the "showtime" era back to LA especially with a healthy Steve Nash and who can forget the magic those two had together. As everyone knows D'antoni was also one of Kobe Bryant's childhood idols from the days when his father Joe "Jellybean" Bryant played in Italy so I believe they would have a great player coach relationship.

Phil Jackson- What's understood doesn't need to be explained.
